Amber Lucille - Bat Bar & Chuggin’ Monkey.
I recently jumped on with Amber & Charlie a few weeks ago. Crazy to be back on 6th street. I forget how wild it gets there on the weekend. You can find me with them at the Bat Bar every Sunday from 8-11. A few other residency gigs to come.

Horse Opera! - Monthly Hoedown at the Highball 4-21-12
First non SXSW hoedown at the Highball & it was a blast. True pleasure to have Lucas Hudgins & the First Cousins on the bill. My first time seeing the group & it will not be my last.

Jeff Whitehead Weekend - Last weekend took us back to the Rockin P in Stephenville. Great turn out & we had some fun dancers that evening. Saturday we ventured to the Ft. Worth stockyards after finding Jeff a new guitar strap. Love Shack was great even with the threat of rain. Plus look at the size of the catfish Jeff & Andy caught!!!!

HO! - Private party at Kelly’s Up in Smoke.
Show #1 of 2 that day. We played to a crowd of classic car owners to kick off Hotrod week (or something like that). Later that evening we played at the White Horse. I was to wiped to take pictures so here’s one of me with a lime in my mouth.

HO! - Lovejoy’s
I had no idea they had a bigger stage now. Totally would have brought my regular set but being cautious, I borrowed Jimmy’s little Gretsch. These little sets are great. One of these days I’ll pick one up.

Jeff Whitehead at the Austin Rodeo - 3/23/12.
After last months gig in San Antonio, I can honestly say that this was not my first rodeo. We had a great time playing in the 100x tent (whatever that means). Our gig was slightly post poned due to Bret Michaels playing in the main arena. Now I like to boast that Bret Michaels opened for us. The rodeo was broadcasting Michaels’ performance to each tent. It was like a car wreck, you couldn’t help but watch. At least half of his set was covers & not Poison tunes mind you, just other peoples tunes he had no business covering. His drummer was also sitting so low, I doubt he’ll be able to finish the tour. That guy is going to blow out his entire back. Enough negativity, please enjoy the last picture which is of my cat sleeping on a beam in my kitchen using his plush monkey as a pillow.

Saturday of SXSW/St. Pat’s/My Bday - So from what you read so far, I do hope you will forgive me for the awful pictures at our HOEDOWN!!!! It’s just fun to say hoedown. Thank you to all the amazing bands that made this year another successful show. There were a lot of great bands I didn’t get to see just because I was running around. Didn’t even get one of the folks in Horse Opera. Shame, shame. Guess you’ll just have to come next year!

Saturday of SXSW - McNally meet up. It was a real treat to see some amazing McNally talent at the Liberty over on the east side. Tom & the school put on a great show. I didn’t get to stay for the whole thing. Skip over to the next post & find out why!

Jeff Whitehead Band - Rebel’s Honkytonk Thursday SXSW. We played but more importantly it was Jeff’s bday. He’s old now.

Wednesday of SXSW - Horse Opera. The very, very red pictures were taken at The White Horse where we played in the afternoon. The rest are from the Whip In on the outside stage. The In has grown by leaps & bounds over the past few months. Not only is the outside stage awesome, the inside stage has doubled. Probably going to be playing the In more often. I snagged a little video during the Whip show, if it’s any good I’ll post a song or two.
